Roberto Arbulu counsels clients through complex intellectual property (IP) litigation issues related to patents and trademarks. He uses his chemistry and biochemistry background to form a deep understanding of his clients' technologies. Roberto has worked with a diverse range of clients from startups to large national and multinational corporations, assisting in patent prosecution, litigation and licensing agreements. His experience spans a wide array of industries, including:

Prior to joining Quarles, Roberto served as legal counsel for a biotechnology company where, among other responsibilities, he provided legal guidance to leadership regarding issues in day-to-day business operations, and prepared and prosecuted patent applications directed to biosensor and digital microfluidic technologies. Roberto’s high-level experience working in-house enables him to provide informed counsel to his clients that is guided by an understanding of what they need to achieve their goals.

Experience in Action

  • Provides patent, trademark and copyright counseling and generating opinions regarding noninfringement and freedom-to-operate. Roberto also counsels clients on IP strategy, including portfolio management, development and assessment of third-party rights.
  • Provides patent litigation in federal court, including formulating litigation strategies, litigation team management, drafting briefs and handling discovery, court appearances and working with experts.
