Lucy Dollens concentrates on complex commercial litigation, representing both large and small business clients. She works with clients in the manufacturing, medical device, higher education, financial services, technology and real estate industries, among others. Lucy advises on:
- Contract and corporate disputes and business torts

- Trade secret and restrictive covenant claims
- Commercial real estate disputes

- TCPA, FCRA, FDCPA and other state deceptive and unfair trade practice claims
Nationally recognized for client service, she makes clients’ business objectives and risk tolerance levels a meaningful part of the legal strategies she delivers. Lucy establishes trusted, working relationships not only with her clients within corporate legal departments but also with individuals on her clients’ senior leadership teams and in their business departments. This enables her to proactively support clients in assessing and managing risk and in achieving creative business solutions to their issues. A skilled litigator, Lucy partners with her clients when litigation ensues to ensure their interests are vigorously protected and advanced.
Experience in Action
- Representing clients in both state and federal trial and appellate courts on a range of legal issues, including contracts and commercial litigation, labor and employment disputes, products liability cases, premises liability matters, and administrative and licensing issues.
- Defending landlords and tenants in disputes involving commercial leases and real estate developments.
- Representing financial institutions and other entities in claims arising under Indiana’s False Claims Act, against allegations of fraud and breach of fiduciary duties, on lender liability claims and in petitioning for trust dissolutions.
- Counseling clients on preserving issues for appeal during trial court litigation and in post-judgment proceedings, including post-trial motions.
Successes
- Defended and provided pre-suit advice and counseling to manufacturers involving vendor, supply chain and warranty disputes, including with respect to standardizing and updating warranties and standard terms and conditions.
- Defended national medical device manufacturers, franchisors, beverage companies and other entities against breach of contract, breach of employment restrictive covenants, intentional interference claims and alleged trade secret violations (both federal and state).
- Obtained temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions on behalf of business clients in state and federal courts.
- Appeared as counsel of record and/or on the briefs in more than 100 appeals, including in the Indiana Supreme Court, Indiana Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
- Represented amicus curiae parties in cases involving significant issues before Indiana’s Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.
- Represented pro bono clients (through court appointment) in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
