Detail-oriented commercial real estate support
Johnna Engquist assists with all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, from preparation and execution of purchase agreements through post-closing matters. Her experience includes drafting and reviewing closing documents, contracts and leases; support with due diligence, document preparation and closing coordination; drafting and reviewing letters of intent; and reviewing and redlining transaction documents. Johnna also:
- Conducts title and survey reviews, prepares title objection notices and coordinates with title companies to resolve any issues.
- Assists with commercial leasing matters, including management of leasing-related workflow.
- Coordinates with property managers, brokers, lenders and other parties involved in commercial real estate transactions.
Johnna’s diverse experience – having previously worked for a developer, a real estate investment trust (REIT) and other law firms – gives her greater perspective on the expectations of clients, helping her anticipate their needs.

- Assists in commercial leasing matters, including drafting and reviewing leases, amendments and other lease-related documents; researches lease issues (i.e., permitted encumbrances, restrictions, exclusives) and provides analysis; and abstracts new leases.
Successes
- Completed 52 new and renewal commercial leases on approximately 2 million square feet, or 2.2% of the portfolio, in a period of one quarter. Leasing activity included 1.2 million square feet of early renewals.
- Assisted with client’s transaction to sell an 81-property retail portfolio for $1.3 billion, anchored by major retail tenants and grocery centers comprising over 1,000 properties and 29 million square feet; drafted and worked with tenants to finalize more than 930 estoppel certificates and reviewed title commitments to anticipate necessary releases and seller requirements.
