Brad Jackson focuses his practice on energy, natural resources and water rights. Nationally recognized for his experience and client service, he advises regulated and nonregulated energy companies in the areas of:
- Utility regulation, including rate and policy making
- Energy regulatory compliance, including electric (fossil, wind, solar and nuclear) and natural gas facility siting and development
- Transactions, including sales and acquisitions of utilities, power plants and energy portfolios
- Energy legislation, including advice on policy and legislation drafting
Brad’s clients know him as a careful listener who considers their position and business goals before giving advice. With more than 30 years in the business, Brad has a deep understanding of the utility industry and how regulators do their jobs, which enables him to provide clear and practical recommendations and counsel.
Brad began his legal career as a trial attorney with the Land and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, serving in the honors program from 1986 to 1988. Brad is national chair of the Energy & Infrastructure and Environmental & Natural Resources Practice Groups.
Experience in Action
- Representing large and small electric and natural gas public utilities before state commissions in rate, construction and enforcement proceedings.
- Advising energy clients on legislative and policymaking issues, including legislative research and drafting.
- Advising owners of hydroelectric facilities and systems on a myriad of energy, natural resource and water rights issues.
- Serving as state regulatory counsel for clients involved with energy-related transactions, including public utility holding company formation and takeovers and the purchase and sale of energy assets.
