Ted Hollis Quoted in Law360 Article Discussing Various High-Profile EEOC Cases
Ted Hollis, a Labor & Employment partner in the Quarles & Brady Indianapolis office, was quoted in a Law360 article that discussed four high-profile harassment cases being pursued by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The cases involve issues such as transgender discrimination, racial harassment and disproportionate impact of background checks on minorities.
Hollis addressed a case in which a former employee who transitioned while at the company allegedly was asked inappropriate personal questions, mocked and harassed, including by referred to by her previous name.
An excerpt:
Edward Hollis, a management-side partner at Quarles & Brady LLP, added that the EEOC is only going to ramp up the lawsuits it files on behalf of transgender workers, making it important that employers pay attention to the legal moves in this arena.
"A lot of people still aren't used to the notion of deadnaming being a potential form of harassment," Hollis said. "But what employers ought to be cognizant of is that more of these claims involving transgender employees will be filed going forward."
