Quarles Partners with The Veterans Consortium for Special Veterans Day Pro Bono Attorney Training
As part of its ongoing commitment to providing pro bono legal services to military veterans, Quarles & Brady LLP is partnering with The Veterans Consortium (TVC) to host a special Veterans Day training session to teach attorneys how to help veterans appeal unfavorable decisions by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
The training session will be held November 11 from 1-4 p.m. Eastern, with both in-person and virtual attendance options. The in-person meeting will be held at the Quarles Washington, D.C., office. To register for the training, click here.
Attorneys interested in volunteering their time to help veterans can attend the training. The training will focus on how to conduct successful written appellate advocacy before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC). These appeals involve an array of VA disability, educational assistance and survivor/pension benefit claims. No expertise is required, and these cases can be handled by both litigators and non-litigators.
Quarles partner Tom McDonell, is the firm’s lead in its long-standing relationship with TVC. The training will be conducted by Courtney Smith, TVC’s senior director of CAVC practice, and Samantha Higgs, TVC’s deputy director of case evaluation and litigation.
