Quarles & Brady's "Setting the Table for Summer" Provides 46,239 Meals for Madison-area Children and Families

News Release

MADISON, Wis. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that the funds raised during the Madison office's two-week "Setting the Table for Summer" fundraiser will enable Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin to provide 46,239 meals to southwest Wisconsin's hungry children and families.

The two-week initiative aligned with the firm's Quarles Cares program, which supports causes and nonprofits chosen by attorneys and staff in each office—with a particular focus on hunger and education. More than 55,000 children in southwestern Wisconsin struggle with hunger, especially during the summer months when there isn't access to the free and reduced-cost school meal programs.

"Our office designated 2015 as 'The Year of the Child,' and this initiative was a natural fit," said Ave Bie, Quarles & Brady's Madison office managing partner. "We are pleased that our efforts helped fill the meal gap for kids when school wasn't in session."

The fundraiser was Second Harvest's second-largest food/fund drive in the month of July.

"'Setting the Table for Summer' not only helped raise meals, but awareness for the challenges of hunger faced by many children and families in southwest Wisconsin," said Dan Stein, president & CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. "None of the work we do is possible without community partners like Quarles & Brady."
