Quarles & Brady Provides Pro Bono Guidance to South Side Community Art Center
Chicago – The South Side Community Art Center (SSCAC) is teaming up with national law firm Quarles & Brady LLP, which is providing pro bono legal services to support the center’s ongoing rebranding and growth initiatives.
Steven Hunter, a commercial litigation partner in the Quarles & Brady Chicago office, is leading the firm’s efforts in support of SSCAC. Hunter and his colleagues are assisting the center with a select legal matters and business opportunities. Hunter is co-chair of the firm’s diversity & inclusion committee and is playing a leading role in the development of its African American Experience, an initiative aimed at strengthening the experience of Black attorneys and staff at the firm.

Founded in 1940, SSCAC is the oldest African American art center in the United States and is a Chicago Historic Landmark. With one eye on its rich past, the center today is building on its legacy by innovatively serving as an artist- and community-centered resource with programs, exhibitions and events that inspire the community. SSCAC showcases established artists and nurtures emerging creators. Through educational and artistic programs, exhibitions, talks, tours, and more, the center strives to engage, educate and connect community members to African American art and artists.
