Quarles & Brady Launches "Setting the Table for Summer" to Benefit Second Harvest
MADISON, Wis. — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that the firm's Madison office has partnered with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin and NBC15 to launch "Setting the Table for Summer," a two-week campaign to raise funds to feed the area's hungry children during the summer months. With the community's help, the firm's goal is to raise $55,000 to help provide summer meals to area hungry children. The fundraiser runs through July 2.
"More than 55,000 children in southwestern Wisconsin struggle with hunger, especially during the summer when there isn't access to the free and reduced-cost meal program at school," said Dan Stein, president and CEO of Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. "Programs like 'Setting the Table for Summer' will go a long way to helping fill the gap when school isn't in session."
Interested donors can visit the "Setting the Table for Summer" website and donate as individuals, or form a fundraising team on behalf of their employer, church, or other organization. Quarles & Brady is enlisting the help of neighboring businesses to create teams, and is engaging in some intra-office competition between floors. This initiative aligns with the firm's Quarles Cares program, which supports causes and nonprofits chosen by attorneys and staff in each office—with a particular focus on hunger and education. Madison office attorney Grant Sovern is an outgoing member of the Second Harvest board of directors, and Madison office attorney Margaret Utterback has taken his place.
"'Setting the Table for Summer' is an extension of our longtime relationship with Second Harvest," said Ave Bie, Quarles & Brady's Madison office managing partner. "Our office has designated 2015 as 'The Year of the Child,' and this initiative is a natural fit."
