Quarles & Brady Awarded Outstanding Service Award by Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association

MILWAUKEE — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that its Milwaukee office has been selected as the winner of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association’s (EDWBA) Outstanding Service Award. The Award is based on the firm’s exceptional pro bono efforts.

“We are truly honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Katie Perhach, Managing Partner of Quarles & Brady’s Milwaukee office. “Our commitment to pro bono work is something we are extremely proud of, not only for the impact it has on our community, but also our firm. It’s an honor to be recognized for these efforts.”

Quarles & Brady's pro bono efforts reach more than 65 organizations that serve indigent persons in five states and Washington DC. Last year nearly 23,100 pro bono hours were recorded—the equivalent of 12.5 full-time lawyers. The firm is a signatory to the Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge®, administered by the Pro Bono Institute’s Law Firm Pro Bono Project, which challenges firms to contribute, at a minimum, an amount of time equal to three percent of total billable hours to pro bono work. The firm assists a variety of programs including:

• Domestic Abuse Injunctions “Lawyer for a Day” Program

• Court appointments for criminal appeals through State Public Defenders Office
• Family Law Parenting Facilitation Conferences
• Appellate Help Desk for Pro Se Appellate Litigants
• Habitat for Humanity (loan and real estate work)
• LOTUS (working with victims of human trafficking)
• Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation
• AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin

The EDWBA is dedicated to improving the practice of attorneys before the Eastern District through continuing legal education. Award winners will be recognized during the EDWBA 2017 Annual Meeting on April 24 for their service, achievements and contributions to the practice of law in the district. A total of five awards will be presented in varying categories.
