News Release

Chicago — The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Real Estate attorney Kathleen Duncan has joined the firm's Chicago office as a partner. She was previously at another large, national law firm.

Duncan advises organizations, institutions and developers on real estate transactions, with an emphasis on her extensive experience with zoning and land use issues. She has helped owners, developers, governmental entities and other real estate market participants obtain planned development approvals, zoning amendments, special use permits, variations, subdivisions and various other governmental permits and licenses.

"Kate is a well-established real estate attorney with a wealth of experience with clients nationally and in the Chicago area," said Mary Ann Murray, national chair of the firm's Real Estate Group. "Our clients will especially benefit from her knowledgeable approach to obtaining zoning and other entitlement approvals in the city of Chicago and the surrounding metropolitan area."

Duncan is the current co-chair of the Network Liaison Committee for the Commercial Real Estate Women Network (CREW) Chicago, former chair of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Council and current village trustee in the Village of Barrington, Ill. She was named to Chicago’s “Notable Women in Law” by Crain's Chicago Business in 2020 and received the Outstanding Community Support Award from the Ethiopian Community Association of Chicago in 2021. Duncan holds a Juris Doctor from John Marshall Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Butler University.

"Quarles’ Real Estate team has fantastic capabilities and chemistry, and this is an exciting next step in my career,” said Duncan. "I hope to complement an already strong platform of services the firm offers clients here in Chicago and nationally.”
