Quarles Adds Chicago Attorney Shahiedah Shabazz to Real Estate Practice Group
The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced today that Shahiedah Shabazz has joined the firm’s Chicago office as of counsel in the Real Estate Practice Group.
Shabazz has a broad background that includes representing property owners, developers, institutions and investors on local land use, zoning and regulatory matters. In addition, she advises businesses in the Illinois and California cannabis industries on compliance with state and local laws and regulations.
Her experience encompasses preparing entitlement applications, developing entitlement strategy and representing clients at public hearings. Shabazz negotiates and drafts real estate transaction deal documents, defends entitlement approvals, conducts land use and zoning feasibility studies and due diligence, and handles commercial and residential real estate closing.
Named in 2022 as a National Law Review “Go To Thought Leader,” Shabazz received her B.S. from Florida A&M University, J.D. from Harvard Law School and M.B.A from Woodbury University. She is a member of the board of directors for the Community & Economic Development Association of Cook County and Habitat for Humanity of Chicago.
