In Memoriam: Former Phoenix Office Partner David Paige

The national law firm of Quarles & Brady is saddened to announce the passing of retired partner and friend, David Paige, who lost his valiant battle with cancer on February 16, 2017. David died at home, at peace and surrounded by his family.

From 1999 through 2012, David was a vital part of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in the firm's Phoenix office. Over his highly successful career, he tried 46 civil jury trials to verdict and excelled in appellate work, primarily in the area of insurance coverage disputes. He was an Associate with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and former President of the ABOTA's Tucson Chapter. He served as Commissioner for the Disciplinary Commission of the Arizona Supreme Count from 1982-1988. David was also a proud member of the U.S.M.C. from 1966-1968.

For several years, David expressed his passion for teaching as an Adjunct Professor at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law where he taught Insurance Law and Jury Selection courses. Additionally, his drive to elevate the legal profession led him to develop a training program for first year commercial litigation associates in the Phoenix office, some of whom continue as partners at the firm today. A natural mentor, David is remembered fondly as one who generously shared his talent and experience with younger Quarles & Brady attorneys working with him. David received his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where he served on several Board of Directors in various capacities at both universities later in his career.

After he retired, and while waging his battle with cancer, David made eight humanitarian trips to Haiti where he served as guesthouse manager for the hospital in Leogane, coordinating transportation, housing logistics and translators for volunteer medical teams, and leader of mission teams from his own church.

The memorial service celebrating his life was held on Saturday, February 25 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony on the Desert. Additional detail may be found here.
