News Release

March 24, 2025 (St. Louis) -- The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced today that Hannah Ji-Otto, who advises clients on data privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) governance issues, has joined the firm’s St. Louis office as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group.

Ji-Otto has more than a decade of experience assisting clients in developing global privacy compliance strategies and managing tech-powered, data-driven transactions. She also counsels on preparing for and responding to data breaches, including ransomware attacks and email compromises. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US, CIPP/E/C/A), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.

“Hannah’s deep experience in these areas and her ability to stay knowledgeable about emerging technologies and the rapidly changing data governance landscape make her a valuable addition to our team,” said Lori Ruhly, national chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. “She is skilled at providing practical, results-focused counsel, an approach I know our clients will appreciate.”

Ji-Otto’s clients range from startups to Fortune 500 companies, both for-profit and nonprofit, in a wide array of industries, including manufacturing, consumer products, e-commerce, health care, insurance, financial tech (fintech), education, marketing and retail. She proactively develops innovative legal strategies to help clients effectively leverage technology and data to achieve their long-term business goals.

In addition to extensive law firm experience, Ji-Otto worked in-house and brings that insight to her work with clients. She earned her undergraduate degree from Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and her LL.M. and J.D. from Washington University School of Law.

“What first interested me in Quarles is its strong data privacy program, but it is the firm’s culture that led me to join,” Ji-Otto said. “The way that Quarles serves its clients and treats its people aligns with my own personal and professional commitment to serving clients and my teams.”
