For more than 20 years, lawyers in the Madison office have played key roles in helping clients find creative solutions to a wide variety of legal and regulatory problems. The expertise of the lawyers in the Madison office reflects the strength and breadth of the economy of the greater Madison Metropolitan area.

Recognized in some of the most prestigious venues as “America’s Best Attorneys,” Chambers USA, Greater Madison’s Most Civic-Minded Leaders and Top Lawyers in Dane County, our attorneys, including a former securities commissioner and a former chair and PSC commissioner, are clear choices for quality of character, expertise and community commitment.

From research and technology, to corporate services, healthcare, immigration and litigation, our Madison attorneys are well equipped to provide a full range of legal services to all business sectors.  Advising clients such as WARF (Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation), Epic Systems, Kraft and Oscar Mayer Food Corporation—just to name a few—we provide a myriad of expertise in a collaborative manner that crosses practice areas which afford our clients the opportunity to “one-stop shop.”

Our Expertise
Our experience includes the successful representation of a donor and developer of a $100 million performing and visual arts center in Madison; Wisconsin’s largest writer of medical professional liability insurance; a hospital in the formation of a joint venture for the provision of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services; a large oil company in several Midwest states in the enforcement of the Lanham Act; a significant stakeholder in the Kmart and U.S. Airways bankruptcies; a manufacturer of electric turbine silencers equipment in a trade secret case; telecommunications providers in interconnection arbitrations; a telephone company in a suit to enforce the first right of refusal to buy-out of FCC wireless licenses; national trade association comprised of 10,000 credit unions in a claim of trademark infringement brought by a regional bank holding company; a major national corporation in its successful effort to amend Wisconsin law related to the bond which a defendant must post before taking an appeal in a civil judgment; and the successful representation of trademark and patent infringement, unfair competition, corporate compliance and tax issues. In addition, we provide a full range of legal services to one of the largest medical software providers of cutting-edge computerized technology. We leave no stone unturned in the unparalleled level of services we provide to our clients.

The acquisition of patents for the groundbreaking work by Dr. James Thomson on stem cell research whose work has had worldwide implications for research in the quest for cures of diseases including, but not limited to, Parkinson’s, Diabetes and Alzheimer’s, make us uniquely qualified to represent up and coming researchers locally, regionally and nationally. We are the proud co-sponsor with WARF of the Biotech Transfer Conference designed for researchers and others interested in IP, technology transfer or those who wish to take the results of their research to the marketplace. In addition to their law experience, many of our intellectual property attorneys have advanced degrees in areas such as physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology.

We are a leader in the practice of health care, focusing on the representation of health care providers and other employers emphasizing risk management, HIPAA, ERISA, contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, provider licensing and medical staff issues. Our experience includes representation of premier regional medical facilities in southern and southeastern Wisconsin.

Our full range of legal services are enhanced by our office being located in the capitol city. It is home to our government relations practice.
